The Living Museum of Jobin Brienz
The Living Museum of Jobin Brienz was founded to keep the master woodcarvers heritage alive. It features the biggest collection of Brienz carvings in the world, as well as a myriad of musical works from the past century. The ancient folk art of woodcarving is expressed in furniture, equipment and old buildings. The craft began as a hobby mountain farmers did it to pass the time in the evenings. The result of their efforts led to production of intricately carved ornaments and exquisite works of art, such as choir stalls and church statues. After the 18th century the center of this trade moved to the area of Brienz-Meiringen. As you stroll through the charming town of Brienz, you will see many sculptures and carvings.

Aare Gorge
A visit to the scenic Aare Gorge is a must when in the Alpenregion. It is 180 m deep at the deepest point and 1400 m long. It is located within a rock formation in the Haslital Valley, which extends from Grimsel Pass to Lake Brienz. It can be crossed easily through tunnels and along wooden galleries. Over millenniums the Aare River eroded a passage through this rock, which is how the magnificent gorge was formed. Walking through it will allow you to experience the beauty of nature in a very special way. You can access the west entrance outside Meiringen when you are coming from the direction of Interlaken.
