Engadin Scuol Attractions

Bad Scuol-Tarasp-Vulpera panoramic route
The route from Lavin through the valley passes through the Bad Scuol-Tarasp-Vulpera resort group. An interesting attraction here is Tarasp Castle, perching perilously above the valley. The valley becomes more solitary beyond Scuol. There are several quaint villages on the green meadows above the road. This is where one reaches Finstermunz Valley with its forbidding scenery. The last Swiss village, Martina, is situated here. You can see the old fortifications of the border at the hamlet of Vinadi. The road leads into the Samnaun valley from there. This is a popular destination all year round.

Traditional architecture in Guarda
There are many typical examples of traditional Engadine valley houses in the village of Guarda. These buildings have accommodated houses and stables under a single roof since the 14th century. You will become familiar with the Suler (passage), which provides an entrance to the Tabla (barn). Other edifices include the Stuva (parlor), the Chaminada (pantry) and the bedrooms (Chombra), usually reached via a stairway from the Stuva. A finely paneled upper room can also be seen on occasion.

Swiss National Park
A visit to this region would be incomplete without taking a trip to the Swiss National Park. This nature reserve is completely protected from human influence. The natural treasures are abundant and varied. Guided tours are organized by local tourist offices. Documents, info, displays, exhibitions and an AV presentation are available in Zernez.
