Palm Express
A ride in the Palm Express is a chance to open up to a fascinating study of contrasts. You will see lofty woods, snowy peaks, the placid mountain lakes of the Upper Engadine, the rocky crevices of the Bergell, typical alpine villages in the chestnut forests of Bergell valley, the quaint towns of Menaggio and Chiavenna, the crystal clear lakes of Como and Lugano, and much more. The train ride will take four hours four hours full of surprises in a pleasant, air-conditioned post bus.


Alpaine Dairy in Morteratsch
You can learn all about the craft of cheesemaking at the alpine dairy in Morteratsch, a town 6.5 km away from Pontresina. Cheese is made according to the traditional recipe. You can taste the produce at an afternoon snack or brunch. Keep in mind that reservations for brunch must be made by 17.00 on the day before at the latest. The dairy is open from July to September.


Swiss National Park
A visit to the Engadine region would be incomplete without seeing the Swiss National Park. This nature reserve is completely protected from human influence. The natural treasures are abundant and varied. Guided tours are organized by local tourist offices. Documents, info, displays, exhibitions and an AV presentation are available in Zernez.


The Bergell valley
The Bergell valley never ceases to amaze. It is reached by post bus along the Upper Engadine lakes to Maloja, from where you continue to Stampa, home to the famous artists Alberto Giacometti, Augusto Giacometti and Giovanni Giacometti. You can stop by the Ciasa Granda valley museum after having lunch in one of the Bergell villages. The most notable of these villages is Soglio, perching atop a sunlit terrace above the valley. Ancient and fully preserved, it has a number of interesting attractions, including the Palazzo Salis church. The Rhaetian Railway Glacier Express is a popular attraction in the area. This seven-hour train trip starts at St. Moritz and ends at Zermatt. You will enjoy travelling through the romantic Alps and relishing the scenery. The train runs through 91 tunnels and over 291 bridges and viaducts. This trip is an excellent year-round option.
