Flumserberg Attractions

Lake Walen
When in Flumserberg one should always visit Lake Walen, located at the border between the cantons of Glarus and St. Gallen in Switzerland. It is sometimes referred to as Lake Walenstadt. It is among the biggest lakes in the country. The main rivers flowing into it are Seez and Linth. The Linth continues on to Lake Zurich. In the summer the Filzbach Habergschwand chair lift is in operation, covering more than 100 km of marked trails. It also offers access to a 4 km scooter run and a pleasant toboggan run. In the winter there are 2 chair lifts and one ski lift.

Weesen
The ancient town of Weesen (41 km away from Flumserberg) on Lake Walen offers many interesting attractions, such as the Dominican monastery of Our Lady's Sanctuary, the Weesen Museum, the Old Vicarage and Kurfrsten Park. A stroll through this town is like traveling back in time. The museum displays numerous Celtic artifacts and other interesting items. Highlights are the impressive Seerenbach falls and the remnants of Castle Strahlegg in Betlis. Weesen hosts many cultural events and festivals throughout the year art exhibits, music concerts, photographic displays and more.

Quinten
The village of Quinten has just 55 inhabitants, and it is the only Swiss village which cannot be reached any other way except by ship or on foot. It lies at the southern foothills of the Churfirsten mountains. Size aside, it is a very popular tourist destination. Attractions include the Old Post near its harbor and the recently restored Bernhard Chapel. Quinten is car-free and subsists on tourism and wine production. The village nestles between the lake and the mountains, so it is easy to infer that locals nurture a close connection with both. The chapel can host around 60 people. Many young couples have discovered that it is a wonderful place to be married in. The village is 51 km away from Flumserberg.
