Getting to Grindelwald

Access to all the villages is provided by train or by car. Flying to Zurich and taking the train is the most convenient travel option; Alternatively self-drive is also very popular. Interlaken railway station is the most convenient and links to the other 3 resorts are regularly available.

To Interlaken:

Driving:
Take the A-20 and A-4 (Lucerne) autobahns from Zurich International Airport, and the A-8 (Lucerne-Thun) autobahn for 140kms, taking 1 hour 30 minutes.

By train:
Bern-Belp is the nearest international airport, but most of the scheduled and charter services are better arranged from Zurich International Airport. From there, two trains every hour are available for the resort of Interlaken, with two-hour direct trains as well as connections including one change also at your disposal. Another option is Geneva-Cointrin Airport, with transfer by train, which takes over two hours.



To Grindelwald:

Driving:
Located 75kms southeast of Bern, in the canton of Bern. From Basel and Lucerne the A8 goes to Interlaken and routes 9 and 44 go to Grindelwald (935kms; ten hours). If you fly to Zurich International Airport and continue by car, head for Interlaken along the autobans A20/A4 and A8, and then take routes 9 and 44.

By train:
From Bern a regional train goes to Interlaken. You can complete the journey to Grindelwald by regional train. Flying to Zurich International Airport - a rail terminal at the airport is available, with two trains an hour that go via Interlaken. The trip takes about 3 to 4 hours.



To Murren

Driving:
From Zurich International Airport, drive on the A-4 autobahn heading for Lucerne, and then get on the A-8 heading for Thun, before finally driving south from Interlaken to Murren (156kms).

By train:
The preferred travel option is to fly to Zurich and take some of the regular trains, changing at Interlaken and Lauterbrunnen, for the 150-kilometre journey to the resort. Basel-Mulhouse and Geneva-Cointrin airports offer transfers also, while the latter provides the better options.



To Wengen

Driving:
If you fly to Berne-Belp and continue by car, the drive takes about two hours via Interlaken. Travel to Interlaken and then straight on to the resort.

By train:
Fly to Berne, and from there, take another train to Interlaken. From Interlaken, there are two connecting trains to the resort available.

By bus:
Fly to Berne and from there, take another train to Interlaken and there take the Skibus directly to Wengen.
