Thun is often passed by because most tourists rush to Interlaken, but this resort town is definitely worth a visit. It has well-developed tourist, engineering, food production and publishing sectors. It also offers some beautiful attractions, such as medieval architecture and a historical castle. There are panoramic views of the Jungfrau, Eiger, Mönch, the pyramid-shaped Niesen peak with altitude of 2362 m and the Stockhorn at 2190 m. The nearby resorts of Schwanden/Sigriswil, Aeschi and Goldiwil/Heiligenschwendi offer excellent skiing conditions. There are also great runs for snowboarders. You will discover many cross country and winter hiking trails in the area of Lake Thun. The town’s Museum of History, housed in the enchanting castle, will fascinate you with its Middle Age furniture and other exquisite historical items.
