Arosa is a municipality in the canton of Grisons in Switzerland. It is an excellent holiday destination, offering entertainment all year round. Lying at the foot of the Weisshorn (2,653 m), the resort offers a well-known and safe skiing area with more than 60 kilometers of pistes. This site was inhabited as far back as the 1200s. The first sanatorium opened here in 1888. In the 20th century Arosa became a winter holiday destination as well. The first ski lifts were built in 1938, and the Weisshorn cable car was launched in 1956. Today tourism is the main economic activity in Arosa. The resort maintains 4,287 guest beds and welcomes travelers from all walks of life.
