Skiing in St. Moritz

Even to people who have never put ski boots on their legs, St. Moritz is a symbol of high quality ski resort.
Probably it owes its name to the traditions - there started the organized winter sport movement in the far 1864 with Kulm Hotel.
The 1928 and 1948 Winter Olympics were held in St. Moritz.
The overall length of the ski area in St. Moritz is 240 km - 80 km of runs and 160 km of cross-country, surprisingly enough there are no red runs - the distribution is as follows: 70% of blue ones, 10% of greens and 20% of blacks.
St. Moritz is Switzerland's sunniest spot with 322 days of sun each year (don't forget your camera!)
Tradition is nothing without well-structured and easily accessed facilities. St. Moritz has invested a lot into improving of the infra-structure. There are 25 lifts (5 tram/gondola, 7 chairs, 13 surface)

The lakeside in Engadin Valley is fabulous - activities on the frozen lake (in winter) include ice golf, horse racing (imagine that!) and a cross country race.
You can hang-glide, play curling, ice skating...
St. Moritz is one of the few European resorts to offer sledding as well. Sledding is a special kind of fun, that came to us from the Northern American Indians. You need a special wooden canoe-like sledge that can be used by more than one person - in Moritz the sledding ski run is 4.5 km long.

The opportunities for winter hiking are practically endless. You just need an experienced guide from the resort to facilitate your good time.

There is a well-organized system of multi-lingual ski school; for the children that are still too young to ski, there are cozy conditions and accommodating teachers and au-pairs who wil take care of them in the Children Club nursery.

Like in classical novels - everyone finds what they search for in St. Moritz.
