Tasch is a lovely winter and summer resort, spectacularly situated in the Swiss Alps, in the area of the magnificent world-wide known Matterhorn. It is some 6km away from one of the world’s top ski resort – Zermatt, which offers fantastic skiing, beautiful scenery and vibrant nightlife. Zermatt centre is entirely car-free and all cars have to park at Tasch but there is a public transportation between the two resorts, as well as a cogwheel railway connection. Set at altitude of 1449 m above sea level, Tasch encounters approximately 1015
inhabitants and symbolizes the gate to the enormous and wonderful Alpine world. It is a typical Walliser village, where you can combine active sports with relaxation in the peaceful ambience.
Tasch is a place with traditions, customs and impressive hospitality. There is an old part of the village, with romantic square and well-preserved houses, dating from 15th century. The tourism has not been developed until 1820, but afterwards tourists started to visit more often Tasch and Zermatt. This period marks the appearance of the first hotel and restaurant in the village, where clients were treated with special care and attention. Today in Tasch you can choose among a variety of hotels with different category – from family owned hotels to luxurious from the Best Western hotel chain.
The region is famous for skiing, especially at the Zermatt's three ski areas: Schwarzsee - Klein Matterhorn area, Gornergrat - Stockhorn area and Sunnegga - Rothorn area, as there is also connection to the Breuil-Cervinia ski area in Italy. 245km of ski pistes includes 22% ski runs for beginners, 50% for intermediate level and 28% for the ski experts. The highest ski lift in Europe (Klein Matterhorn) will take you high up to 3 820 m., from where a 14km-ski run will take you straight into Zermatt with a vertical drop terrain of 2 200m. Boarders will enjoy their time in the two superb terrain parks and two half pipes in the resort. At Rodelbahn there is a natural ice-skating rink, snow shoe running tracks and ice climbing area, available from January to February. Non-skiers can amuse themselves via additional activities like bowling, indoor golf, tennis and squash or curling. Seven public indoor swimming pools in Zermatt offer refreshment and pleasant experience; also available are fitness centre, solarium and wellness services.
Tasch attracts visitors mainly for its great flora and fauna, spectacular hiking tracks and traditional festivals. Rich in folklore and customs, the village organizes varied cultural programme, including music and cultural festivals, inviting you in the charming restaurants with local specialties and friendly atmosphere. In Tasch, you can relax fully in the fresh mountain air and peaceful environment. If looking for exciting après-ski and nightlife, Zermatt has more to offer: number of cafés and bars, discos, more than 70 fabulous restaurants, snack bars, pizzerias and other venues. If Tasch is too calm for you, you can easily overcome the 6km distance to Zermatt and have a great time there.
