Les Diablerets
The Diablerets is a resort in the easternmost area of the Canton of Vaud, situated in the mountain bearing the same name (French speaking zone). In the crisp, fresh air at an elevation of 1200 to over 3000 metres, Les Diablerets and the surrounding area offer over 150 kilometers of ski-runs (30 kilometers of which are for cross-country skiing) where snowboard and ski fans from around the world air their skills. The resort offers three main ski areas :

- Isenau, offering 6 installations,as well as 25 kilometers of ski runs;
- Meilleret, with 30 installations, linked with Villars / Gryon, that service 75 km of ski pistes;
- and the Glacier 3000, with 10 installations and 25 km of ski pistes. Isenau is most suitable for beginners. The tracks are mostly easy. The Swiss Ski and Snowboard School gives courses there, most often on the Crua track. A lot of snowboarders are drawn to that part because of the snowpark. The Meilleret is mainly composed of red tracks (intermediate level). This large area is also well suitable for good skiers. From there one has the possibility to go skiing to Villars. At the end of the tracks, you are going to find the Snowgarden and the Ponylift for the small beginners. At the Glacier 3000 with its two new cable-cars beginners can take advantage of the easy tracks on the top and good skiers will choose the famous « Combe d’Audon » track (14 km long). Walkers are going to admire the vistas over the sea of peaks over 3000m of elevation. The restaurant Botta 3000 and its self-service also provide terrific views of the glacier and the Alps.

Besides, every September Les Diablerets gives host to the International Alpine Film Festival. It also hosts the Folk Music Festival in October, as well as the Country Music Festival in August. Eating is mainly a hotel affair, with the inexpensive restaurants at the Auberge de la Poste hotel and especially Les Lilas hotel worth checking out. Also, attend an exhibition at “L’Auberge de l’Ours” and “La Hotte” galleries.
