There are two rivers surrounding the city from two different sides – Veveyse to the west and Oyonnaz to the east. The city's industrial sector is very well developed, including banks, commercial agencies, artisans and freelancers. This is also where the food giant Nestlé, famous especially for it chocolate, placed its headquarter in 1867. The spectacular position on the Lake of Léman and the picturesque panorama on Mont Peresin add to the unique charm of this town, making it a popular tourist destination.

Summer activities
A great number of activities is available in the summertime, including water sports, such as swimming, fishing, boat trips, canyoning and rafting on the swift river flows. Hiking routes through the picturesque surroundings will lead you to magnificent mountain areas, revealing the natural beauties of the region. Golf adherents will appreciate the splendid opportunity to show off their skills on the green in the magnificent scenery outside the city. They can also spend an exciting day at the Lavaux Golf Club. You may surely expect much more fun during your stay, as there are five amusement parks in the area with attractions suitable not only for kids, but also for their parents (karting, labyrinths, the magical world of aquatic slides, etc).

Winter activities
The entire region of Motreux-Vevey, favourably located at the Riviera and at the foot of the Alpes, attracts many tourists also in winter, offering various sport possibilities. You can try snowshoeing, as there are four marked circular trails at Les Pléiades. This is also the area where Alpine skiing and snowboarding fans will find great slopes, ideal for whole families. There are also several kilometers of cross-country ski trails, leading through the forests and letting you enjoy the tranquil winter scenery. You will be also tempted to rush down the sledge-run of Les Avants.

Additional info
The monument of Charlie Chaplin, the town’s resident for a certain period of his life, is one of the most popular sites. The city is also famous for a special festival. Several times in each century the Brotherhood of Winegrowers (The Confrérie des Vignerons) organises the Winegrowers' Festival (Fête des Vignerons), which is a feast of wine and a chance to celebrate the wine-growing tradition as an element of culture. Especially for this spectacular occasion an arena for 16,000 spectators is built in the Grande Place – the second biggest marketplace in Europe. Pure entertainment awaits you in the Swiss Museum of Games, whereas followers of art can spend several hours admiring the collections of the Museum of Old Vevey, or the Jenich Arts and Cantonal Stamp Museum. Evenings are truly romantic in the city – either when you stroll along promenades along the beautiful lake, or when you take a walk through the lively centre. There is a wide-range of restaurants with traditional specialities, fish dishes and international cuisine. After a drink in a friendly bar, your comfortable room in the hotel will offer you the relaxation you need at the end of a long day.
