The most convenient airports are Zurich and Milan.
Reaching Zermatt
By car:
Coming from Zurich or Basel, it is recommendable to take the Lotschberg tunnel from Kandersteg to Goppen-stein. You will have to use the car-transporting train when passing through the tunnel. When you get off the train, drive to Visp and then follow the signs to Tasch. As Zermatt is a trafiic-free resort, you will have to leave your car at Tasch and choose another option to reach the neighbor Zermatt - train is the best option, and it is regularly available. There is a large car park near Tasch and three miles from Zermatt.
By train:
Landing at Zurich, take the train to Brig, via Bern and Spiez. The train passes through the Lötschberg tunnel. When you get to Brig, get on the special train that will take you to Zermatt. The trip from Zurich to Zermatt lasts about almost 4 hours. Traveling from Milan is quicker and less expensive, but reaching the railway station from the airport puts some extra-time to the overall journey duration.
