Zermatt is an established winter resort with excellent skiing, snowboarding, sledding, and hiking facilities. It is famous for its delightful scenery, and is located on the Swiss-Italian border. It offers over 394 km of pistes for skiers of all levels and abilities. Zermatt is almost traffic-free, with many entertainment opportunities. The nearest town is Tasch. Zermatt has an altitude of 1620 m. The ski season is from November to May. It has 60 lifts, 8 km of cross-country trails, and a snow park and half-pipe for boarders. Local attractions include the Alpine Museum and the fascinating Gorner Gorge.
